General Primary Election is Today in Stephens County

Today is Election Day in Stephens County.

Stephens County Election Supervisor Krista Terry is reminding voters that you cannot bring a lawful weapon into the polling precinct.

She says that while Georgia law no longer requires a concealed carry permit for lawful weapons carriers, there are still a few places that lawful weapons cannot be carried, and one of those is within 150 feet of a polling place. So, today, when you cast your ballot be sure to leave your firearm at home.

For the General Primary Election, voters will cast ballots at the Stephens County Senior Center today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Anyone who has yet to return their absentee ballots, the deadline to have those back to the Registrar’s Office is today at 7 p.m.

There are several candidates who have qualified in Stephens County’s local races that will be on today’s ballot.

For the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 1, republican challengers are Bo Webb, Craig Beatty, Dennis Black, Lawrence S. Krul, and Tara Simmons.

For the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 4, incumbent republican James Addison, republican challengers Russ Addison, Jesse Pitts, and Chris Rickman.

For the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 5, Republican Chuck Wright is running unopposed.

For the Stephens County Board of Education District 1 Post 2, Republican Incumbent Jim Bellamy is being challenged by Republican candidate Amber Gilbert.

For the Stephens County Board of Education District 2 Post 1, Republican candidates are Tripp Arrowood and Mary Day Widner.

For the Stephens County Board of Education District 2 Post 2, Republican Incumbent Travis Dobbs is being challenged by Republican candidates Kendrick Maxwell and Kayla Caudell Smith. Democratic Challengers for District 2 Post 2, are Shantelle Grant and Kali R. Jackson.

For the Stephens County Board of Education District 3 Post 1, Republican Incumbent Kay Reed is running unopposed.

Again, voters will cast ballots today at the Stephens County Senior Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
