GEMA/HS Mass Vaccination Sites vaccinate over 357-thousand Georgians

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency closed out operations at the eight mass vaccination sites across Georgia on May 21, after administering 357,668 total doses of the Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccine.

According to GEMA/HS Director Chris Stallings, their goal was to address the vaccination needs of underserved populations that were hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic and to jumpstart vaccinations statewide.

Stallings says quote, “We successfully achieved those goals with the tireless efforts of the entire GEMA/HS team, and local, state, federal and private partners,” end quote.

In the final three weeks of operation, the sites began offering Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccines and administered a total of 2,731 doses.

The total number of Pfizer vaccines given was 354,937.

The Agency opened its first mass vaccination sites on February 22 in four locations across the state, and expanded vaccine access by adding five additional sites, with the final day of operations being May 21.
