GBI CONTINUES INVESTIGATION INTO DEATH OF MARTIN WOMAN FOUND OUTSIDE OF LAVONIA

The investigation into the death of a Martin woman in Franklin County in October is still ongoing, according to the GBI.

Nelly Miles, Director – Office of Public & Governmental Affairs for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told WNEG Radio’s sister station WLHR in Lavonia that, as of this past Tuesday, agents are still waiting on the results of forensic tests and the case is still in progress.

The body of 63-year-old Audrey Jean Fowler McFarlin of Martin was found in October on Tiger Tail Road outside of Lavonia.

At the time, Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas denied rumors of foul play but requested assistance from the GBI and turned the investigation over to them.

McFarlin had been a school bus driver for the Franklin County School system for 29 years.
