Ga. Mountains Jobs Picture Bright

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Sept. 21, that the Georgia Mountains area’s unemployment and jobs picture looked bright for the month of August.

In August the unemployment rate was just 4.1 percent, unemployment claims have fallen as job growth continues to climb.

July the unemployment rate for the region was 4.4 percent, showing a decline of .3 percent.

According to the Department of Labor, the unemployment rate for last August was 4.9 percent; thus, showing a positive trend of fewer claims being filed.

Unemployment claims were down by 32.9 percent to 1,047 – showing a positive boost for the Georgia Mountains area’s economy.

In comparison to last year’s claims, this year shows promise with a decline of 28.9 percent.

Butler says that Georgia continues to be one of the leaders in job creation and employment, showing that Georgians are ready to go back to work.

Across the region employgeorgia.com showed 2,526 new active job postings.
