Friday is the deadline to request an Absentee Ballot for Runoff Election

The deadline to request an absentee ballot application is this Friday.

According to Stephens County Election Supervisor Krista Terry, June 10 is the final day to submit an application requesting an absentee ballot for the runoff.

She says June 13 marks the start of the advance voting period.

The Advance Voting Period will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday June 17, and voters will cast advance ballots at the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.

Then, on Tuesday, June 21, the runoff election will be run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stephens County Senior Center.

There are two local races on the ballot for this runoff election; both are for posts on the Stephens County Board of Commissioners.

For Post 1, Republican Dennis Black will be vying against Republican Challenger Tara D. Simmons.

During the May 24, General Primary Election, Black received 1,459 votes or 36.58 percent and Simmons received 880 votes or 22.07 percent.

For Post 4, Republican Incumbent James Addison will be vying against Republican Challenger Chris Rickman.

Addison received 1,960 votes or 48.71 percent of the vote during the General Primary election, whereas Rickman received 1,133 votes or 28.16 percent.

Additionally, Terry says her office will conduct Logic and Accuracy testing on June 10 and June 11.

The testing will include the preparation and testing of the electronic poll books, electronic ballot markers, printers, and scanners for use during the election. The procedures will continue until completed and are open to the public.

Again, June 10, is the final day to request an application to vote by absentee ballot. June 13 marks the start of the advance voting period at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, and Election Day voting is slated for June 21.
