Franklin & Habersham County results

Taking a look at Franklin County election results:

In Lavonia’s City Council race, Incumbent Eddie Floyd won with 158 votes over Harold Harbin, who collected a total of 70 votes.

For the Mayoral seat, Courtney Umbehant, who ran unopposed, will resume the position, and collected 206 votes.

The Sunday Alcohol Sales Referendum in Lavonia passed with 130 yes votes and 98 no votes.

In Royston’s City Council races, Incumbent Jason Phillips took the Post 2 seat with 178 votes against Wesley Fricks’ 116 votes. For Post 4, Incumbent Lee Strickland, with 123 votes, lost out to Fletcher Hodges, who collected 173 votes, and for the Post 6 seat, Incumbent Wayne Brasswell’s 72 votes fell to Tony McCollum’s 229 votes. 

Royston’s Alcohol Referendum also passed, 189 in favor to 112 against.

In the Franklin Springs City Council Race, Incumbents Bill Bell, with 86 votes, and Incumbent Tommy Pritchett, with 88 votes, will be taking the 2 available seats, beating out Pamela Mayfield, who received 14 votes.

In Canon’s City Council race, incumbent Eli Brown received 35 votes, Incumbent Bobby Locke received 45 votes, and Ricky Minish received 20 votes.

In Carnesville’s City Council race, Sherry Cheek, with 84 votes, bested incumbent Patsy Watkins with 44 votes, Vince Esposito with 28 votes, and Gabbie McFarlin with 69 votes. Missy Holbrook ran unopposed and will take the Mayoral seat. The Carnesville Sunday Alcohol Referendum failed, with 63 votes against, and 61 votes in favor. 

Moving to look at election results in Habersham County:

In Alto, Patricia Gail Armour took the Mayoral seat with 27 out of 49 votes cast, besting incumbent P.J. Huggins, who had 19 votes, and John Smith, who received 3 votes. 

For the Alto Councilmember Post 2 seat, Incumbent James M. Turner returns to the position after running unopposed; Incumbent Eddie M. Palmer, likewise, returns to the Post 4 seat after running unopposed. 

In Baldwin, in the Special Election to fill the Mayor’s unexpired seat following Mayor Joe Elam’s unexpected resignation in February, a total of 212 votes were cast, with Sephanie Almango receiving 134 votes and Tom Whitney collecting 78 votes.

For the Baldwin Council, Councilmember Post 1 seat in Baldwin, Erik Keith ran unopposed and received 171 votes. For the Post 2 seat, Joseph Satterfield also ran unopposed and received 176 votes, while Kerri Dianne Davis received 174 votes in her unopposed bid for the Post 3 seat. 

In Clarkesville, Incumbent Coppedge will return to his Post 2 seat on the Council after running unopposed and Don Nix bested Jessamie N. Vincent for the Post 3 seat. Nix had 68 votes, Vincent had 29.

In Demorest, Incumbent Donnnie Bennet retains the seat with 95 votes against Jimmy L. Davis with 68 votes, while Jim Welborn will take the second open seat with 64 votes. 

In Mount Airy’s race for three councilmember seats, Incumbents Adam Tullis, with 42 votes, Christopher Keith Green with 42 votes, and Robert “Mike” McCoy with 41 votes, will return to their posts, besting candidate Lerlene Dodd, who received 30 votes.

In the City of Cornelia, the Redevelopment Powers Law Referendum passed with 74 yes votes and 47 no votes.
