Franklin County School Board Names Superintendent Finalist

Christopher Forrer

In Franklin County, the Board of Education has named a finalist for the School Superintendent position.

He is Christopher Forrer, an educator from Madison County.

Forrer beat out 32 applicants for the job, including the Mayor of Franklin Springs, for the job.

In a press release issued by the Franklin County School Board, the Board voted unanimously last week to name Forrer as their choice for new School Superintendent.

According to his application posted on the Franklin County School Web site, Forrer has a Masters of Education Degree from Salisbury University in North Carolina.

He is currently the Director of School Improvement and Accountability for the Madison County School District.

He began his education career in Maryland where he taught grades 4, 5, and 6 before moving to Georgia where he has worked in several school districts as teacher, assistant principal and principal.

By law the Franklin County School Board must wait 14 days after naming a finalist before Forrer can officially be appointed.

According to the press release, the School Board plans to have Forrer hired and in place by July 1.

If appointed, Forrer will take over for Wayne Randall, who plans to retire May 30.

Board members told Randall at the beginning of this school year that his contract would not be renewed.
