Franklin County now has two job openings in the front office.

This week, the County began advertising for a new County Clerk after the Board of Commissioners chose not to renew the contract of former clerk Jane Brown.

Brown was hired in August 2022 and came to Franklin County from Hendersonville, NC where she had been a paralegal for a law firm.

According to the general job description posted on the Franklin County government website the position of County Clerk calls for someone with a high school diploma or better and good office and accounting skills.

County Commission Chair Jeff Jacques said the job really requires someone who is a quick study and good at multitasking.

Additionally, the ad states that there are a wide variety of complex administrative and executive tasks requiring initiative, independent judgment, and extensive working knowledge of county organizations and programs.

A complete list of duties can be found on the Franklin County government website at franklincountyga.gov/human-resources.

The County is also without a permanent County Manager after Derrick Turner resigned at the end of August.

County Commissioners appointed EMA Director Terry Harris to serve as the Interim County Manager until a permanent replacement is hired.

Jacques said, for now, the search for a new County Manager is on hold.

Turner had served for almost three years as the County Manager but unexpectedly submitted his resignation citing personal family reasons.
