Franklin County Hometown Fair taking entries for Blue Ribbon Competition

With the Franklin County Hometown Fair just weeks away, it’s time for bakers, canners, as well as arts and crafters to enter one of the competitions that will be taking place during the three-day event.

The Franklin County Hometown Fair takes place November 2 – 4th at the American Legion Fair Grounds in Lavonia.

One of the highlights of the old-fashioned county fair will be the Blue Ribbon Competitions.

There will be three Categories: Culinary, Home Arts & Hobbies, and Visual Arts. And within those will be subcategories:

Categories & Subcategories:
1) Culinary
a) Jams & Jelly
b) Baked Goods (Cookies & Cakes)
c) Canned Goods (Vegetable, Fruit, Salsas, & Pickled)
d) Honey

2) Home Arts & Hobbies
a) Fiber Arts
b) Hand Crafts (including Pottery & Woodworking)
c) Jewelry Arts

3) Visual Arts
a) Fine Arts (Drawing, Painting, Sculptures
b) Photography

Lavonia Main Street Manager Ashley Rose Dodd tells WLHR News now is the time to enter and each person may enter ONE item per subcategory.

All entries must be submitted in the name of the owner of the entry.

Registration will continue until Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

Entries will be judged by Thursday afternoon, November 2nd and the decision of the judges is final.

Submissions must be dropped off at Lavonia American Legion on Wednesday, November 1st between 2:00–5:00 p.m.

And make sure you have labeled all your entries with your full name, address, phone & the category number on your label.

Dodd said the Blue Ribbon competitions are open to all men, women, and juniors of all ages. However, in the Culinary category professional commercial, or industrial, bakers/chefs are not eligible to enter.

First, second, and third-place ribbons will be awarded.
