Franklin County Board of Ed Conducts Interviews for New School Superintendent

The Franklin County Board of Education is in the process of narrowing their search for a new school superintendent.

Last fall, the School Board announced it would not renew the contract of current superintendent Wayne Randall.

According to a report in the Franklin County Citizen, the Board has received 31 applications from candidates across the country, including one international candidate.

21 candidates are from Georgia; others are from Alabama, Florida and there is at least one local candidate Board member said.

Candidates were interviewed last Friday at the Holiday Inn Express in Lavonia. The Board plans to conduct two more rounds of interviews before announcing their three finalists.

Once a final candidate is announced, by law they must wait another 14 days before they can appoint the next superintendent.
