Focus Turns To Christmas Events and Celebrations

With Thanksgiving leftovers safely stored in refrigerators all across the community, WNEG News turns attention to the upcoming Christmas season and the wide range of upcoming events and activities here in Toccoa/Stephens County.

First, a reminder that, although Saturday was Small Business Saturday, downtown Toccoa will continue to celebrate the community’s locally-owned businesses in the coming week, with entries into the Main Street Toccoa Small Business Saturday Giveaway continuing through this coming Saturday, Dec. 2.

As reported earlier by WNEG News, those who “shop small” in downtown Toccoa through next Saturday have a chance of winning the Main Street Toccoa Small Business Saturday Giveaway.

Every purchase made during that time frame at each participating business is eligible for an entry into the drawing, on top of the two entries per person that were offered for purchases this past Saturday.  Additionally, every purchase made helps support friends and families in the community that own or operate a small business downtown.

Main Street Toccoa will host the giveaway drawing from City Hall via Facebook Live on December 5 for three downtown gift cards.

Toccoa Main Street Manager Kristen Deal says Small Business Saturday reminds us that the small brick-and-mortar storefronts in our community are the lifeblood of our business climate and that, for every dollar spent at a small business in the United States, 67 cents of that stays in the community.

Downtown Toccoa’s continuing resurgence, with a large number of new businesses opened this year alone, makes downtown shopping for Small Businesses Saturday an even more attractive option for holiday shoppers, Deal said.
