First Annual Marine Corps League Devil Dog Shootout Fundraiser Coming Up

Sharp shooters will want to mark their calendars for the Marine Corps League’s first annual Devil Dog Shootout.

Sponsored by the Marine Corps LeagueCurrahee Mountain Detatchment 1303 in Toccoa, the Shootout will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Red Hill Range located at 2238 Toms Creek Road in Martin.

The shootout will consist of four divisions: Law Enforcement, Fire/EMT, Civic Groups (VFW, Legion, Clubs) and Civilians. Each group will award first, second and third places.

A trophy for All-Around Best Shooter will also be awarded. The trophy will be defended at next year’s event.

The event will also feature gun and equipment vendors as well as concessions.

A silent auction for a hard rifle case valued at $145 will also be held.

Shooters must be on-range by 8:30 a.m.

Proceeds will go to help disabled veterans.

In addition to support for disabled veterans, Members of the Marine Corps League also raise money to help homeless veterans.

Their Marine Roses program raises money to provide funds for local chapters to assist veterans and youth as well as provide other services to the local community.

And they also work with the Eagle Scouts and recognize America’s future leaders who earn the Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award by presenting them the Marine Corps League’s “Good Citizenship Award” Certificate.
