FCSO seizes over 100 pounds of marijuana off I-85

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas has reported yet another major drug bust after a traffic stop on I-85.

According to the report, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana as the result of stopping a speeding vehicle.

Thomas told WNEG News about the traffic stop.

“On June 28 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Camden Beasley stopped a 2018 GMC Yukon on I-85 at mile marker 171 for a speeding violation. After making contact with the driver, identified as Angela McEntyre from Frankfurt, Kentucky, Deputy Beasley smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking to McEntyre,” said Thomas.

According to Thomas, Beasley then asked requested assistance with searching the vehicle.

“Beasley was assisted by Franklin County sheriff’s deputies in searching the vehicle. Deputy Beasley located four duffle bags filled with marijuana in the passenger and cargo area. The marijuana was prepackaged in vacuum-sealed bags. The marijuana was estimated to be over 100 pounds. McEntyre has been charged with trafficking marijuana and is currently in the Franklin County Detention Center where bond has been denied by the Franklin County Magistrate Judge,” said Thomas.

The marijuana is estimated to be valued at $250,000.
