FCSO captures 2 drug offenders after monitoring I-85

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office continued its efforts on I-85 this week as two suspects with a history of drug offenses have been arrested on multiple charges.

Travis Samuels, 30, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Annishi Moore, 28, of New Port, Tennessee, were both arrested and charged with fleeing and failure to stop for law enforcement, reckless driving, window tint violation, driving while licenses suspended/revoked, driving in improper lane, seat belt violation, trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were monitoring traffic on I-85 when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle traveling northbound.

The driver refused to stop and was driving all over the road.

According to the report, the two passengers then attempted to exchange drivers while still traveling northbound on I-85.

As deputies stopped the vehicle several miles down the road, deputies removed the passenger, who originally had been driving, Samuels.

During a routine pat-down officers found more than an ounce of marijuana on his person.

The driver, Moore, was also removed from the vehicle and she was found to be in the possession of over two-ounces of marijuana and one-ounce of white powder, which officers believed to be cocaine.

According to the report, both subjects have a history of trafficking drugs.

The suspects were transported to the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance bond hearing.
