Farm City Week Banquet recognizes several members with awards

Local leaders hear from Georgia’s Commissioner of Agriculture at an annual banquet.

Gary Black was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s annual Toccoa-Stephens County Farm City Week Banquet at First Baptist Church, in Toccoa.

Black talked about the significance of encouraging today’s youth to get involved in agriculture.

Stephens County Farm Bureau organizes the banquet each year.

Stephens County Farm Bureau Office Manager Dawn Jameson said she was pleased with the turnout at the banquet.

According to Jameson, there were 20 students who volunteered to provide service during the banquet.

Stephens County Farm Bureau also handed out a number of special awards during Tuesday’s banquet.

They include the following:

Farm Family of the Year – Heath and Amethyst Hutto and family;

Cattleman of the Year – Freddie Long;

Friend of Agriculture – Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers;

Hall of Fame Inductee- Brown Dean
