Family Connection Annual Gameshow Fundraiser Slated for Tomorrow

The popular fundraiser that pits adults against Stephens County’s brightest 5th graders is back for a fourth year.

Family Connection of Stephens County announced that it’s “Are You Smarter than a Stephens County 5th Grader?” game show fundraiser will be held tomorrow, at 6:30 p.m. at Stephens County High School’s Tugaloo Center.

The event features a team of Stephens County 5th Grade Academy students aiming to put teams of adults to shame by outshining them in academics.

Family Connection of Stephens County’s Executive Director Allyson Warren explained that the students look forward to this event each year, adding that, they all get a kick out of being smarter than the adults.

She said the event is based on the game show, “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”

“We have a team of fifth grade students from our Fifth Grade Academy at Stephens County Middle School that have been selected by their teachers as the best and the brightest and we have teams of adults that compete against those fifth graders in trivia,” Warren said.

Warren said that money raised from the event will benefit many of the programs that Family Connection helps organize and coordinate in the county.

Family Connection of Stephens County is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on improving child and family well-being in Stephens County.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and cost $5 for age 12 and up.

Admission is free for those under the age of 12.

Warren says everyone is invited to what should be a lot of fun, family entertainment.

“I would really appreciate the support for our fifth grade students,” she said. “They have worked really hard. They are really bright and entertaining. I think most people who come out to this realize it is a night of comedy, so we really hope that people will come out and enjoy it.”
