Ernest Awarded Trailblazer Award

Stephens County Judge Glenda Ernest, who has served as Stephens County’s Probate Judge for nearly 25 years, and has served the county for more than 40 years, was honored for her commitment, dedication, caring and professionalism in carrying out the duties of her office.

Ernest was presented with the annual Susan Clark Campbell Trailblazer Award during a ceremony held in the Grand Jury Room at the Stephens County Government Building – a ceremony that friends, family and co-workers attending the event managed to keep as a surprise from the award recipient.

Stephens County Commission Chair and local attorney Tara Simmons presented the award to Ernest.

Ernest, who said the award was a “ total shock”, talked of her relationship with those she worked with, from those in her office, who she regards as family and calls “her girls” to the attorneys, judges, and elected officials she has worked with over the years.

As reported by WNEG News, Ernest announced her retirement in January, saying she would not be running for re-election.

The Award is named after its inaugural awardee, Cornelia Attorney Susan Clark Campbell, who was presented the award last year by the Women Lawyers of the Mountain Judicial Circuit in recognition of her “moxy, perseverance, integrity, diligence, service, and dedication…”
