Today, Feb. 12, is the deadline to register to vote in order to be able to cast a ballot in the March 12 Presidential Preference Primary. Registration can be done online at mvp.sos.ga.gov or by visiting the Stephens County Elections Office, located in the Historic Courthouse, 37 W. Tugalo Street in Toccoa.
In order to register, one must be a citizen of the United States and a legal resident of the county in which they are registering, must be at least 17 ½ years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote, must not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude, and must not have been found mentally incompetent by a judge.
Also, The Logic and Accuracy testing and preparation of voting equipment to be used in the March 12 Presidential Preference Primary will begin at 8:30 a.m. this coming Thursday, February 15 at 37 W. Tugalo Street in Toccoa. Testing will continue from day to day until complete and members of the public are entitled to be present during testing.
