Eastanollee man offers $500 reward for information on who has removed his signs against Fieldale

An Eastanollee man is complaining that someone keeps taking down his signs that encourage members of Stephens County to sign a petition for his lawsuit against Fieldale Farms Corporation.

Melvin Barrett told WNEG News on Sunday that someone has been taking down his lawsuit signs.

He is offering a $500 reward for anyone who has information regarding the party responsible for the removal of his signs.

According to Barrett, he put up a sign on Hwy 145 and less than an hour later the sign was gone.

Barrett and his wife Patricia Barrett have been requesting signatures around the county in hopes of stopping Fieldale Farms Corporation from increasing the amount of affluent they spray on their fields each day.

Patricia Barrett told WNEG News last week that they only need 10 more signatures before their lawyer will bring their case to court.

The Barrett family live next to a property owned by Fieldale Farms. They say it has become unbearable to live so close.

In the suit, the Barrett’s are seeking compensation for punitive damages and the cost to uproot their family and move elsewhere.

If you are interested in signing their petition, or if you have information regarding the party responsible for removing the signs, contact Melvin Barrett at 706-779-7143.
