Eastanollee man arrested after shooting in Toccoa

An Eastanollee man has been arrested following a shooting that injured a juvenile in Toccoa.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on Wednesday, May 19, officers were dispatched to 16 Ruby Street in reference to shots fired with one injury.

Upon arrival, Mize says, officers made contact with the victim and rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene.

The CID Unit and GBI were notified and the scene turned over for further investigation.

Officers were advised a burgundy Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis with a white front bumper had fled the scene following the shots being fired.

Mize says, as officers spread out and searched for the suspect vehicle, 911 Dispatch radioed that the suspect vehicle had been stopped by the Georgia State Patrol in Lavonia.

Investigators arrived on scene and confirmed that this was the vehicle seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

Toccoa Police Department took custody of the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Troy’Onta Ry’Tarious Finley, of Eastanollee.

He was taken to the interview room at the Toccoa Police Department and from there to the Stephens County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Assault.

Mize says, more charges are pending as the Toccoa Police Department continues to investigate. At this time, the GBI and Toccoa Police Department Investigators are still processing evidence at the scene and in the vehicle.

The victim was transported from the scene to Stephens County Hospital where she was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

She is in stable condition.

Mize says they are unable to release the victim’s identity because she is a juvenile.

Additionally, Mize says he’s thankful for the quick response of the GSP, MCCD, GBI, and CID, along with the residents on Morgan and Ruby Street for their cooperation.
