Early Voting ends Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the last day of early voting in Stephens County.

Stephens County Registrar Bill Cochran told WNEG News about the approaching deadline of early voting.

Voters can cast an early ballot at the County Annex Building on Tugalo Street, today and tomorrow, during regular business hours.

Cochran encourages residents of Stephens County to cast their ballots during this election season.

“If you want to beat the lines, then come cast your ballot today or tomorrow. If you can’t make it out before early voting ends, then we’ll see you on Tuesday at the polls,” Cochran said.

To date, only 1,121 ballots were cast during the three-week early voting session.

Of the 1,100 ballots, 892 were Republican, 121 were Democrat, 18 were Non Partisan, and 80 Mailed in Ballots have been cast.

Those who do not vote early will cast ballots on May 22 at the Stephens County Senior Center.

Cochran reminds voters to bring a valid ID with them when they come to cast their ballots.

In Stephens County, voters are choosing a State Representative as Republican incumbent Dan Gasaway runs against Republican challenger Chris Erwin.

In another race, Dean Scarborough is running for re-election to the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 5 seat against challenger John Smith.

In addition, there are five candidates vying for the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 4 seat, they are James Addison, Melvin Barrett, Bryan Dooley, Jim Ledford and Henry Moore.

Residents will be choosing their new Board of Education board member, selecting either Joel Blackwell or Kay Reed.

Also on the ballot, for residents of Toccoa, is a question allowing Sunday Alcohol Sales within the city.

For all residents of the county, is a question to allow Sunday Alcohol Sales throughout the county.
