Early Voting ends this Friday

Time is running out for voters to cast an advance ballot in the upcoming General Primary Election.

Early voting is being held at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, located at 37 West Tugalo Street, in Toccoa.

The advance voting period will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through Friday, May 20.

May 13 was the final day to request an absentee ballot; if you missed the deadline, you now have two options for casting ballots during this election. You can either vote during the advance voting period or you’ll have to wait for election day to cast a ballot.

If you did request an absentee ballot prior to the deadline, absentee ballots must be returned to the Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24.

Stephens County Election Supervisor Krista Terry says there is an absentee ballot drop box located in the historic courthouse.

She adds that they have set up voting machines on the first floor, as well as the second floor, so that handicapped voters have easier access to the machines.

Additionally, the elections office needs poll workers and volunteers. Terry says anyone interested in volunteering can call her for more information.
