Early voting begins this week in Toccoa-Stephens County

Early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary began this week in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Early voting will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., until Friday, March 20, at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, inside the Stephens County Historic Courthouse.

According to Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober, during the early voting period there will be one Saturday voting held, on March 14, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Presidential Preference Primary in March will be the first election that the Registrar’s Office will use the new voting machines, after a federal judge ordered the state of Georgia to stop using paperless, touchscreen voting machines in 2019.

The Presidential Preference Primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at the Senior Center, located on Roselane.

Gober says anyone who would like to vote by absentee ballot still has time to request an application for one.
