Early registration ends Friday for SCSO’s Bushbond 10k/5k/fun run

The 2nd Annual Bushbond 10k/5k/Fun Run is coming up in October.

Sponsored by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, the race will be held on October 10, on Yonah Dam Road, in Toccoa.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley the run is to benefit the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes.

He says, the Youth Homes provide life skills training, educational support, and extra-curricular activities.

Runners can register online at active.com or pick up a paper entry form at the Stephens County Courthouse or the Stephens County Jail.

Shirley says all registrations are tax-deductible. Early registration will end on Friday, October 2.

Shirley, who was recently appointed to President of the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home, says there are five Youth Home campuses across the state in which residents live in a structured, loving environment.

The children attend public school and are offered spiritual and moral teachings. They also receive valuable training and services to help them grow into responsible, successful adults.

Shirley encourages everyone to participate in the Bushbond 10k/5k/Fun Run to help give a child a brighter future.

Again, the Run will be held on October 10, at 3844 Yonah Dam Road, in Toccoa.

The 5k begins at 8:15 a.m., 10k begins at 9:15 a.m., and the 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Race day fees will be $30 for adults, $20 for Ages 12-17, and Free for Ages 11 and under.
