Duley awarded Golden Heart Award and STEP UP Toccoa Workgroup Member of the Year

Paula Duley from the Ninth District Opportunity in Stephens County has been awarded the Hearts for Families: Golden Heart Award and the STEP UP Toccoa Workgroup Member of the Year award for 2019.

Duley was awarded this honor after contributing more than 5 years of hard work to promote the prevention of underage drinking in Stephens and Franklin counties.

She has served on the Community Workgroup and Advisory Council for STEP UP Toccoa; and has been exceptional in promoting HEARTS for Families and is continuously coming up with new ideas on how to promote prevention strategies.

The annual Golden Heart Award as well as the STEP UP Toccoa Workgroup Member of the Year awards are presented to the most qualified individual who has gone above and beyond throughout the year in volunteering to bring prevention-related resources to HEARTS for Families including by not limited to: financial resources, additional manpower, and community connections.

According Audrey Justice with Hearts for Families, Duley has a true heart of gold and often helps others.

Justice says Duley was instrumental in getting the new prevention-focused Community Involvement Specialist settled into Stephens County and reuniting the Workgroup during the recent underage drinking prevention project staff transitions.

She also has dedicated the Ninth District Opportunity meeting room for the STEP UP Toccoa Workgroup’s monthly meeting space.

She assisted conducting community surveys, locating community events for the promotion of the SAFE HOMES awareness campaign as well as generally supporting the prevention efforts in the county.

Duley is an overall community citizen and true asset.

Justice adds that Duley is very deserving of these awards because she gives her all.

STEP UP Toccoa and the underage drinking prevention efforts in Stephens and Franklin Counties are funded by Georgia’s Department of Behavorial Health and Development Disabilities.
