Drug Bust Nets Quantity of BHO, Fake Cash

A Toccoa man is behind bars facing multiple drug and other charges after Sheriff’s investigators raided his home last week.

It happened Thursday, April 19th.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley tells WNEG Radio deputies, investigators, and state probation officers executed a search warrant at 120 Mary Glenn Road in Toccoa.

During the search, Shirley said investigators discovered diverse amounts of illegal drugs, one of which is not commonly seen in Stephens County.

One of those drugs is known as Butane Hash Oil or BHO.

“Butane hash oil is made by blasting marijuana with butane, a solvent that takes all the THC with it and nothing else. Evaporating away the butane, leaves only the resin, a viscous, amber-colored, waxy substance that can get you dangerously high because of its potency, which is approximately 80% compared to marijuana which is about 14%,” the Sheriff said. “This increase in use is thought to be associated with the liberalization of cannabis use in the United States. Interestingly, it is made by businesses in Colorado for distribution to local cannabis dispensaries.”

BHO is made by soaking marijuana in butane, a solvent that takes all of the THC out, leaving the resin which is many times more potent than regular marijuana.

Deputies recovered more than six ounces of BHO at the residence Thursday.

Investigators also uncovered separately bundled $100 bills totalling approximately $46,600.

“After careful examination of the currency it was revealed that all of the money was counterfeit,” Shirley said. “Although the cash looks authentic, experienced cashiers who handle large quantities of cash can feel the texture and instantly determine the bill is fake.”

Shirley said the counterfeit money also had the phrase,  “For Motion Picture Use Only” printed on them in small letters.

“These bills have been showing up at convenience stores in our area, as well as from other drug dealers,” he explained.

Arrested at the scene was 33-year old Laforacce Mosley.

Mosely is charged with possession with intent to distribute more than six ounces of BHO, possession with intent to distribute six ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute two illegally possessed schedule IV narcotics, Clanazopam and Alprazolam.

He is also charged with possession of methamphetamines.

Mosely is currently in the Stephens County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
