DPH reports Stephens County now has 132 positive cases of COVID-19

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 132 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

To date, Stephens County has had two deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 511 positive cases of the virus and 19 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 939 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 99 tests have come back positive, 783 received negative results, and 57 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 99 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 84 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

Additionally, there are two patients currently hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and four patients who are hospitalized with pending results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 88 cases, Rabun County has 17 cases and one death, Franklin County has 41 cases and one death, and Hart County has 26 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 44,638 cases, of those, 7,745 have been hospitalized and 1,933 have died from complications of the virus.
