DPH reports increase of 10 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County now has 234 cases of COVID-19—an increase of 10 from Wednesday.

To date, Stephens County has had six deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 699 positive cases of the virus and 35 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 2,369 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 261 tests have come back positive, 1,941 individuals received negative results, and 167 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, the hospital currently has one patient hospitalized who is awaiting their results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 138 cases, Rabun County has 45 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 197 cases and one death, and Hart County has 60 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 84,237 cases, of those, 11,275 have been hospitalized and 2,827 have died from complications of the virus.
