DPH Reports Another Covid Related Death in Stephens

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting another death in Stephens County due to complications of Covid-19 bringing the total to 22.

DPH is now reporting 12 more total positive cases of Covid-19 in Stephens bringing that total to 778.

The latest report was released Wednesday afternoon.

DPH is still a total of 59 deaths in Habersham County, but 18 more positive cases for a total of 1,297.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,655 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 908 tests have come back positive with 720 patients receiving positive results, 3,710 received negative results, and 37 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has five patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and one other who is hospitalized awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties,  Franklin County has had 517 cases and 10 deaths, Rabun County has a total of 263 cases and 5 deaths, Hart County has had 390 cases and 10 deaths, and Banks County has a total of 355 cases and 8 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 260,590 cases, of those, 23,939 have been hospitalized and 5,311 have died from complications of the virus.
