DPH reports another COVID-19 related death in Stephens County, 12 more positive COVID-19 cases

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting another death in Stephens County due to complications of Covid-19 bringing the total to 26.

DPH is now reporting 12 more total positive cases of Covid-19 in Stephens bringing that total to 820.

The latest report was released Sunday afternoon.

DPH is also reporting an additional death in Habersham County bringing that total to 63, and 1,327 total positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have administered 4,743 COVID-19 tests.

Of those, 931 tests have come back positive with 739 patients receiving positive results, 3,752 received negative results, and 60 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has two patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and four others hospitalized awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties,  Franklin County has had 537 cases and 11 deaths, Rabun County has a total of 278 cases and 5 deaths, Hart County has had 408 cases and 10 deaths, and Banks County has a total of 370 cases and now 6 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 265,372 cases, of those, 24,335 have been hospitalized and 5,471 have died from complications of the virus.
