DPH reports 94 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 94 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

To date, Stephens County has had 1 death due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 402 positive cases of the virus and 15 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 759 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 85 tests have come back positive, 651 received negative results, and 23 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 85 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 62 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 41 cases, Rabun County has 14 cases and one death, Franklin County has 30 cases and one death, and Hart County has 19 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 36,544 cases, of those, 6,381 have been hospitalized and 1,548 have died from complications of the virus.
