DPH reports 93 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 93 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 387 positive cases of the virus and 16 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 689 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 81 tests have come back positive, 601 received negative results, and 7 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 81 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 54 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 38 cases, Rabun County has 14 cases and one death, Franklin County has 28 cases and one death, and Hart County has 18 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 34,635 cases, of those, 6,130 have been hospitalized and 1,461 have died from complications of the virus.
