DPH reports 91 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 91 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

As of 12 p.m. this afternoon, May 8, the Department of Public Health updated its website to reflect the most current numbers.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 384 positive cases of the virus and 15 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 663 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 80 tests have come back positive, 563 received negative results, and 20 individuals are still awaiting their results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 35 cases, Rabun County has 13 cases and one death, Franklin County has 25 cases and one death, and Hart County has 15 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 31,722 cases, of those, 5,886 have been hospitalized and 1,356 have died from complications of the virus.
