DPH reports 8 cases of COVID-19, SCH reports 1 case at Clary Center

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting eight cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, of those cases, six are being treated by Stephens County Hospital.

On Sunday, the Department of Public Health reported five cases in Franklin County, two cases in Habersham County, three in Rabun, Banks and Hart counties.

Stephens County Hospital released a statement on Sunday, April 5, announcing that on Friday, April 3, staff at the Clary Care Center, one of Stephens County Hospital’s Personal Care Homes, were working to arrange the transfer of one of its residents to another facility, the individual was in good health, but the receiving facility required that any incoming individual be tested for COVID-19.

The individual, who was and remains asymptomatic, returned a positive COVID-19 test result.

Hospital staff immediately isolated the individual, notified the Department of Public Health, and informed all the families of all residents in the facility.

This case have been thoroughly investigated by the infection prevention team in collaboration with the Department of Public Health.

The Department of Public Health has reported that the hospital is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of its residents and staff and are continuing to monitor the individual, who tested positive, under isolation.

As of this morning, the hospital has tested 57 individuals for the virus, with six receiving positive results, 36 negative results, and 15 results still pending.
