DPH Reports 5th Death from Stephens County Due to Covid-19

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting that Stephens County has 5 deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

The DPH reported Monday afternoon that the latest victim is a 71 year old male.

The DPH reports 153 positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Habersham County is also reporting an additional death bringing the total to 31. DPH reports 596 positive cases of the virus for Habersham.

Rabun County is also reporting an additional death bringing the total to 3, with 32 positive cases reported overall.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 1,220 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 143 tests have come back positive, 1,051 received negative results, and 26 individuals are still awaiting their results.
According to hospital staff, of those 143 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 107 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

Additionally, there are two patients currently hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with a confirmed case of COVID-19, and one other who is awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 109 cases with one death, Franklin County has 140 cases and one death, and Hart County has 44 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 58,414 cases, of those, 9,322 have been hospitalized and 2,494 have died from complications of the virus.
