DPH Reports 34 Deaths Related to Covid-19 in Stephens

The latest report from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows Stephens County with another death related to Covid-19 bringing the total to 34.

The latest DPH report is showing Stephens County 1,019 positive COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Tuesday afternoon.

DPH is also reporting Habersham County with an additional death bringing the total to 67, and now 1,565 total positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have administered 5,080 COVID-19 tests.

Of those, 1,008 tests have come back positive with 800 patients receiving positive results, 4,056 received negative results, and 16 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has two patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and two others hospitalized awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Rabun County is now reporting 8 deaths and 321 cases, Hart County has had 13 deaths and 488 cases, Banks County is reporting 7 deaths and 471 cases, and Franklin County has had 729 cases and 11 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 308,221 cases, of those, 27,490 have been hospitalized and 6,677 have died from complications of the virus.
