DPH reports 2 more COVID-19 related deaths in Stephens County

The latest report from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows Stephens County with two more deaths related to Covid-19 bringing the total to 36.

The latest DPH report is showing Stephens County with 1,030 positive COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Wednesday afternoon.

DPH is also reporting Habersham County with an additional death bringing the total to 67, and now 1,585 total positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have administered 5,080 COVID-19 tests.

Of those, 1,008 tests have come back positive with 800 patients receiving positive results, 4,056 received negative results, and 16 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has two patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and two others hospitalized awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Rabun County is now reporting 9 deaths and 327 cases, Hart County has had 13 deaths and 492 cases, Banks County is reporting 7 deaths and 473 cases, and Franklin County has had 735 cases and 11 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 309,678 cases, of those, 27,749 have been hospitalized and 6,773 have died from complications of the virus.
