DPH reports 2 more COVID-19 related deaths in Stephens County

The latest report from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows Stephens County with 2 additional deaths related to COVID-19 bringing the total death toll to 38.

Additionally, Stephens County has had 1,058 positive cases of the virus since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Sunday afternoon.

DPH is also reporting Habersham County with 67 deaths, and now 1,640 total positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Rabun County is now reporting 9 deaths and 340 cases, Hart County has had 13 deaths and 507 cases, Banks County is reporting 8 deaths and 482 cases, and Franklin County has had 753 cases and now 13 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 314,685 cases, of those, 28,179 have been hospitalized and 6,946 have died from complications of the virus.

The Stephens County School System has released its weekly COVID-19 update for the week ending September 25.

3 Staff members quarantined.

32 Students quarantined at home.

Again, the numbers represented in the school system are current active cases as of September 25 and does not represent a running total.
