DPH reports 19 deaths in Stephens County due to COVID-19

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting yet another death in Stephens County due to complications of Covid-19 bringing the total now to 19 in the county.

According to DPH, this is the 5th death in Stephens County due to complications of the virus since Friday.

DPH is now reporting that there has been a total of 713 positive cases of Covid-19 in Stephens County.

The latest report was released Tuesday afternoon.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,455 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 871 tests have come back positive with 690 patients receiving positive results, 3,540 received negative results, and 44 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has four patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of Covid-19, and seven others who are hospitalized pending test results.

DPH is still reporting 52 deaths in Habersham County and a total of 1,219 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties,  Hart County has had 357 cases and eight deaths, Franklin County has had 471 cases and six deaths, Banks County has a total of 307 cases and six deaths, and Rabun County has a total of 237 cases and three deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 241,677 cases, of those, 22,429 have been hospitalized and 4,794 have died from complications of the virus.
