DPH reports 15 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 15 positive cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Public Health announced that Georgia has a total of 10,566 positive cases throughout the state, with 2,159 being hospitalized, and 379 dying from complications of the virus.

Fulton County remains the county with the highest number of confirmed cases, now reporting 1,276.

In our area, Stephens County is reporting the highest number of cases; whereas, Habersham County has seven confirmed cases, Rabun County has six, Banks County has four, and Franklin and Hart counties each have three cases.

The Georgia Department of Public Health continues to post daily updates on its website at dph.georgia.gov for the latest numbers regarding COVID-19 cases; these updates are made at noon and a 7 p.m. daily.

At Stephens County Hospital there are currently eight confirmed cases of the virus.

As of Wednesday, the hospital has tested a total of 82 individuals for COVID-19, of those, 69 have received negative results, and 5 results are still pending.

At this point, Stephens County has had zero fatalities due to the virus.

According to Stephens County Hospital Vice President of Physician Practices Van Loskoski, the hospital has implemented telehealth at several of its facilities to offer citizens an alternative to coming in for health care unrelated to COVID-19.

Telehealth is being offered at Stephens County Hospital’s Internal Medicine Clinic, Currahee Pediatrics, WorkWell, and the Orthopedic Surgery Clinic.
