DPH reports 11th COVID-19 related death in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting another death in Stephens County, bringing its total to 11 fatalities and 579 cases of COVID-19.

The Department of Public Health is reporting that Habersham County has 48 fatalities due to the virus and 1,089 positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,184 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 807 tests have come back positive with 632 patients receiving positive results, 3,323 received negative results, and 54 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has six patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and four others who are hospitalized pending test results.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 385 cases and five deaths, Banks County has a total of 247 cases and three deaths, Rabun County has 200 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 277 cases and four deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 201,713 cases, of those, 19,788 have been hospitalized and 3,984 have died from complications of the virus.
