DPH reports 107 cases of COVID-19, 2 deaths in Stephens County

Stephens County is now at 107 cases of COVID-19, and the Department of Public Health is reporting two deaths in Stephens County.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County has had an increase of 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Monday, May 11.

Whereas in Habersham County, there has been an increase of 34 confirmed cases of the virus since Monday, May 11, bringing its total to 420 cases of COVID-19.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 759 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 86 tests have come back positive, 661 received negative results, and 21 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of the 86 who tested positive at its facilities, 63 have now fully recovered from the virus.

In neighboring counties, the numbers have only slightly increased.

Banks County started the week of May 11 with 36 cases and as of today has 43 cases—an increase of seven cases.

Rabun County started the week with 14 cases and as of today remains at 14 cases.

Franklin County started the week with a total of 26 cases, but as of today the DPH is reporting 33 cases—an increase of seven cases.

In Hart County there was a total of 17 cases at the start of last week, and as of today there are 20 cases—an increase of just three cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 37,552 cases, of those, 6,835 have been hospitalized and 1,609 have died from complications of the virus.
