DPH now reports 147 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 147 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

To date, Stephens County has had two deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 530 positive cases of the virus and 23 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 993 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 114 tests have come back positive, 872 received negative results, and seven individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 114 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 90 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

Additionally, there are two patients currently hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and two patients who are hospitalized with pending results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 92 cases with one death, Rabun County has 24 cases and one death, Franklin County has 102 cases and one death, and Hart County has 33 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 47,899 cases, of those, 8,302 have been hospitalized and 2,089 have died from complications of the virus.

Beginning today the Department of Public Health will begin updating its daily COVID-19 status reports just once a day at 3 p.m.
