DPH now reports 136 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 136 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

To date, Stephens County has had two deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 514 positive cases of the virus and 20 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 948 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 105 tests have come back positive, 812 received negative results, and 31 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 105 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 86 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

Additionally, there are two patients currently hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and three patients who are hospitalized with pending results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 92 cases, Rabun County has 19 cases and one death, Franklin County has 45 cases and one death, and Hart County has 28 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 45,266 cases, of those, 7,829 have been hospitalized and 1,973 have died from complications of the virus.
