DPH now reports 11 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health continues to monitor COVID-19 throughout the State of Georgia.

As of Tuesday morning, the Department of Public Health reported eleven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County; of those confirmed cases, six are being treated at Stephens County Hospital.

In total, Georgia has 8,818 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of those 1,774 are hospitalized, and 329 have died from complications of the virus.

According to Stephens County Hospital’s Vice President of Physician Practices Van Loskoski, the hospital continues to implement safety practices to reduce the spread of the virus.

Last week, the hospital partnered with two new labs in hopes of increasing the turn-around for test results.

At this time, the hospital has tested a total of 69 individuals for the virus. Of those 69, six tests have come back positive, 49 have received negative results, and 14 tests are still pending.

Loskoski says anyone who presents symptoms aligned with COVID-19 should contact the hospital or their primary care physician’s office prior to coming in for treatment.

Again, anyone who presents symptoms of COVID-19, including a cough, shortness of breath, and or fever should contact the hospital or their primary care physician’s office prior to coming in for treatment.

The Department of Public Health updates its list of confirmed cases of COVID-19 daily, at noon and at 7 p.m.
