DPH Daily COVID Report delayed due to overwhelming amount of data

Due to an overwhelming amount of data, the Department of Public Health was unable to release its Daily Covid Report on Monday, January 3.

Here is the report from Friday, December 31.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 114 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 4,717 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 361 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Friday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending December 31, the DPH reports a total of 79 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 176 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 41, Banks County has 88, Franklin County has 49, and Hart County has 64 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,420,034 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 94,879 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 26,425.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
