DPH continues to experience delays with Daily COVID report

The Georgia Department of Public Health continues to delay its daily COVID update.

The most recent update was released on Wednesday, January 5.

Here is that report.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 114 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 4,802 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 361 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Wednesday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending January 5, the DPH reports a total of 150 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 296 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 63, Banks County has 164, Franklin County has 137, and Hart County has 119 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,493,254 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 96,241 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 26,472.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
