District II Health Departments Now Offering Booster

If you received the Pfizer COVID vaccine you might be eligible for a third booster if you meet certain criteria.

Booster vaccine doses for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine have been approved for specific groups of fully vaccinated individuals.

Although the booster dose is not required, it will help fully vaccinated people maintain protection over the coming months.

Those approved for a Pfizer COVID booster shot include:

Those 65 years and older

Residents of long-term care facilities

18 and older with underlying medical conditions that put a person at high-risk

18 and older who have an occupational or institutional exposure risk

Late Friday, District II Public Health announced that beginning Monday, most of their regional health departments are now administering the booster shots as well as initial Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines for those who have not yet been vaccinated.

Anyone interested in receiving the COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department, located at 64 Boulevard, Suite 102, Toccoa.

To schedule an appointment to be vaccinated contact Stephens County Health Department by calling 706-282-4507.

Right now, the FDA approval for COVID booster shots is for the Pfizer vaccine ONLY.
