District 28 election break down

Recently elected District 28 State Rep. Chris Erwin

The official results have been released.

According to Scytl.com the official votes show that District 28, made-up of Banks, Habersham and Stephens counties, will see a new State Representative as Republican Chris Erwin succeeds former Representative Dan Gasaway.

The two candidates were head-to-head throughout the General Primary Election; more so, each of them were triumphant in different Counties throughout District 28.

In all, 6,155 ballots were cast, 3,111 or 50.54 percent of voters preferred Erwin to Gasaway, who was backed by 3,044 or 49.46 percent.

According to data retrieved from scytl.com, in Banks County, Erwin gained 58.05 percent of support from the 2,415 ballots cast amassing 1,402 votes; whereas, Gasaway received 41.95 percent of votes securing only 1,013 votes.

Similar to the Banks County results, in Habersham County, 1,130 registered voters came to the polls.

57.96 percent or 655 ballots were cast in Erwin’s favor; whereas, 42.04 percent of 475 ballots were cast in Gasaway’s favor.

In Stephens County, Gasaway gained the support of 59.62 percent or 1,556 out of 2,610.

Quite differently from Banks and Habersham counties, Erwin was unable to get the win here in Stephens County.

Erwin received just 40.38 percent or 1,054 votes from the residents of Stephens County.

In all, Erwin wins District 28 as State Representative by no more than 67 votes.
