District 2 Public Health spokesperson urges everyone to wear masks

Wearing a mask in public settings has become the new normal amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but as the temperature gets hotter those masks become less and less comfortable.

District 2 Public Health Information Officer Dave Palmer says everyone should continue wearing masks to help slow the spread of the respiratory virus.

He says quote, “the masks protect other people because we don’t know what we are carrying, so if we wear the masks and we cough or breathe we can’t spread illness as easily,” end quote.

He adds that it’s really important for everyone now to be wearing a mask when in the presence of other people and especially those who are older folks and when going out into public to shop at the grocery store, the hardware store or anywhere like that.

Masks should be worn over your nose and mouth and secured under your chin.
